What we're interested in: Examining the way our society sets the stage for the various environmental problems we face, including the invasion of non-native species. What we're not interested in: We're not out to assign blame to any one person or agency. We're interested in telling a story from all perspectives, under the belief that all sides have something valuable to learn from each other, and that we all have something to learn from examination of the telling. Who We Are: Jarrett Byrnes is in the Population Biology graduate group. He is currently working on the effects of species invasions and overfishing on marine food webs in Bodega Bay. Liz Chamberlin is a PhD candidate in Ecology and working towards her MA in creative writing. When not chasing bats and emergent diseases in Australia, or working on her short story collection, she is also the mother of Finn Veloz, our boom baby. Sarah Elmendorf is a graduate student in Ecology. She studies plant diversity and distribution patterns in California grasslands. Ryan Fischer is a graduate student in History. His research addresses the environmental and cultural history of cattle in Hawaii and California. Suzanne Olyarnik is a graduate student in Population Biology. She is studying the ecology of seagrass beds in Bodega Bay. Amber Wright is also a graduate student in Population Biology. She is researching tropical lizards in the Caribbean. |
