Our new paper from the diversity-function working group at NCEAS is out today in Nature. This work highlights that diversity loss can have as severe an impact on productivity as many other sources of environmental change. If you want the story behind the paper, check out my blog post.

#SciFund round 2 has launched! We have 75 scientists participating in this round, so it's going to be spectacular!

Allrighty then! I've just send in my acceptance to join the faculty in the Biology Department at UMass Boston! The Byrnes lab will be open for business starting September 1st 2012.

#SciFund is now complete, having raised some $75,000 for Science! Jair and I will be sending a survey out to participants soon to help us to understand what lessons can be learned for succesful science crowdfunding campaigns.

The #SciFund Challenge is now live on RocketHub! We've gathered 49 scientists all interested in crowdfunding their research. It's amazing - the videos are like a masterclass in science communication. I'm just in awe.

I have a proposal up as well - Hey! Did you miss that fish? to fund work on quantifying measurement error in the Channel Islands National Park Kelp Forest Monitoring Program's dataset. I hope you enjoy my attempt at making a seemingly dry topic come alive. Check it out, and maybe kick in a few bucks!
